Shelby Allen

Spent 2.5 days riding in Ironwood/Hurley area.  Racked up about 450 miles which tripled my mileage for the season so far.  Some of the trails were great and others left a lot to be desired.  But it sure felt good to get out and ride!

Shelby Allen Came across in the U.P. last weekend while we were up riding.  Not something you see everyday along the side of the trail. Hope he had Full Coverage!

John Farley and I thought 500 miles in 4 days was rough, for a first time out at least. Sounds like we had a bit better conditions in the silver city area (Due north of Bergland which is on Lake Gogebic)

We typically stay closer to Ironwood/Hurley because we have a few restaurants that are absolute favorites there and we really like to eat ;-) We actually found the trails to be a little better in Wisconsin. But the worst trail by far was trail 8 coming out of Wakefield to Lake Gogebic. Might be the poorest groomed trail I have ever been on.

John Farley yah... we stayed North and East of the 1 and 8 Junction (just outside of Merriweather) made it as far as Twin Lakes. We stayed away from Wakefield because of all the traffic figuring the trails would be pretty beat up.

Shelby Allen We rode in The Hurley/Mercer area and the trails were actually pretty decent Justin. Definitely could use more snow, but we were happy with the trails we rode!

Shelby Allen Put on 100 this past weekend on Lake Vermilion.  Lake has a good base of ice but pressure ridges everywhere.  Trails still have hardly any snow but when I left last night they had about 3 inches of white stuff.  Hopefully the groomers can get out soon so ...  morePut on 100 this past weekend on Lake Vermilion.  Lake has a good base of ice but pressure ridges everywhere.  Trails still have hardly any snow but when I left last night they had about 3 inches of white stuff.  Hopefully the groomers can get out soon so we can hit up the trails.

John Farley $45 a piece for trail permits, the line from Ironwood to Houghton has the most snow. Lots of grooming activity, we saw grommers everyday on some part of the trail system
