Garmin GPSMap 60cx. Have a RAM handlebar mount and power cord that plugs into my 12v accessory outlet on my 2008 Ski-doo Renegade 800R. I use with the Metroguide software for road connections. Works good and I can compare GPS mph to vehicle mph. Odometer seems to be just as accurate as GPS. Of course our local trails keep changing so it doesn't do much good to upload as a section of trail may or may not be there the following year. Nice thing with the unit, it is portable and can operate on AA batteries.

i have the nuve 550 so far i hate it to me its very hard to load maps but i have no idea how to use it if anyone knows how please let me know

I have a nuvi 500, the waterproof one, didn't use it as much as I would've liked, but I did buy the maps for WI and MI through Red Pine Mapping, just plug the gps into your computer, load the maps, and then turn off the primary map when you load the sled maps

I got invited to do a beta of a program that converts tracks to a transparent map, so you can overlay it with any other maps.
Unfortunately, it was after all our snow was gone. But, someone in a forum wanted to see what TOPO looked like with the GPX2IMG map overlay so I took some of the GPS the other day while I was driving home. Taken with cell phone, sorry about the quality.

TOPO lines
Yellow is road
Pink is snowmobile trail.
My daughter likes the Eagle. :)

Has anyone tried the Garmin Rino 520hcx GPS? We sled in remote areas where there is no cell phone service. If you buy two of these units, one can beacon it's location to the other...

I am thinking about buying a pair but only if this feature really works.

My Garmin Nuvi 500 passed last season with flying colors. The red pine mapping (http://redpinemapping.com/) for Minnesota was flawless. I did add a 12v accessory socket to my '05 Yamaha Venture sine the gps battery was only good for about 4 hours

one other thing if "aquire" a copy of Garmin's Mapsource uploading maps and downloading tracks is a breeze

Just picked up a RAM (gpscity.com) mount for my Garmin NUVI 500. So far it looks like it will work pretty slick. I'll have to report back once I get some miles on it to see how well it "REALLY" works

I was looking at the magellan crossover anyone know of anything similar (I'd use it on a boat too)

if you notice some of the other posts, several of us have the Nuvi 500 from Garmin, it's a waterproof crossover

Follow up from last year: I highly recommend the RAM Mount for the NUVI 500 (the high impact plastic not the metal one). I used all last season without a single issue.

I second the ram mount! Doubled with the Otterbox waterproof case makes for one hell of a combo!!
